MCA Students Participate in 3D Printing Workshop at US Embassy
Twelve students from the Malawi College of Accountancy (MCA), Lilongwe Campus, have been trained in 3D printing at the American Centre, US Embassy in Lilongwe.
The intensive 3D training workshop was held from June 23rd to June 25th involving students under the Bachelor of Management Information Systems (BMIS) and Bachelor of Business Management and Entrepreneurship (BBME).
The hands-on workshop introduced students to the fundamentals of 3D printing, including digital design using software such as TinkerCad and 3D Builder, slicing, and the practical process of printing objects such as keyholders and toy trains. They also explored real-world applications of 3D printing across key sectors in Malawi, including education, healthcare, agriculture, and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Beyond technical skills, the workshop aimed to broaden students’ perspectives on innovation and entrepreneurship, with a focus on sustainable solutions such as the use of recycled plastic materials for 3D printing.
The participating students hailed the opportunity saying they are set to apply their newly acquired skills to real-world challenges and future career pursuits. ?>
