MCA Donates Textbooks to Namalimwe, Manja CDSS, and Chichiri Prison
The Malawi College of Accountancy (MCA) on Wednesday, October 22, donated core textbooks to Namalimwe and Manja Community Day Secondary Schools (CDSS) and Chichiri Prison in a bid to address the challenge of inadequate learning materials in secondary schools.
Speaking during the donation ceremony, MCA Head of Programmes for Blantyre Campus, Esnart Lengani, said the College recognizes the difficulties faced by Community Day Secondary Schools in accessing adequate learning resources, hence the initiative to give back to the community.
“One of our core values is giving back to the community and being a responsible citizen to those around us. This donation aims to alleviate the challenge of limited learning materials. It is our plea that you put these books to good use and ensure that every page you read takes you a step closer to achieving your goals,” she said.
In her remarks, South West Education Division Manager, Feggie Mphasi Mwale, who was also the Guest of Honour, said the shortage of teaching and learning materials in secondary schools contributes to poor performance in national examinations. She described the donation as timely, noting that it will benefit many Community Day Secondary Schools in the surrounding areas where the challenge remains significant.
She further commended MCA for the initiative and pledged that the Division would reciprocate the gesture by encouraging secondary school students to enroll in MCA’s various prestigious programmes.
The event also featured performances by learners and a career talk led by MCA Marketing Officer, Patrick Kaitano, alongside Lecturer in Business Management and Entrepreneurship, Harrison Sindima. ?>
